Penny is a project engineer for a consulting firm in Oakville. They provide engineering services to the manufacturing industry. She graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Biological engineering in 1991.
She has always loved all animals and in her younger days she was very involved with horses (training, teaching riding, competing at horse shows) and even owned her own horse for a while. Her father is to introduced her to birds. He raised and raced homing pigeons for most of her childhood. He also raised canaries, finches and budgies at one point.
He gave Penny and her husband a couple of budgies and things just evolved from there. After the budgies she adopted a Cockatiel. Then added a Mustached Parakeet to the family. After moving from Mississauga to Cambridge with their birds, they unfortunately lost their parakeet outdoors. He was found but died shortly afterwards for unknown reasons. After dealing with their loss the adopted Chloe, a White Fronted Amazon. Then a few years later they added two macaws, Maxine and River; to their family. Somewhere along the line she became a member of the Golden Triangle Parrot Club and has been enjoying the people and their feathered friends ever since.
